There is now a simple installer available for FFEra! You WILL NOT be able to connect to FFEra with an older version of the client. While it's possible to connect to FFEra with the retail client, it's highly recommended to use this one to avoid any in-game oddities. (Click for Steam Deck installation instructions)

  1. Download the FFEra Installer here (up to date as of Jan 31, 2023) or an alternate download here.
    • If you are getting the error "Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time." you can attempt the following workaround.
    • You will need to be logged in to a Google account with at least 5.5 GB of unused space.
    • At the top right of the download page (linked above), click the "Add shortcut to Drive" button. Choose any folder.
    • Navigate to your Google Drive where you placed the shortcut in the previous step.
    • Right Click on your "FFEraInstaller-Jan2023.zip" shortcut, and click "Make a Copy".
    • Right Click on the new copy in your Google Drive and click "Download".
    • You can delete the copy and shortcut once the download has finished.
  2. The installer should migrate/save any existing settings automatically, but consider backing up existing macros, Windower/Ashita profiles and addon settings, etc. just in case.
    • Optional: Make a copy of SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER folder to keep your existing macros and in-game settings.
    • Optional: Make a copy of your Windower and/or Ashita folder.
  3. Extract the FFEra Installer files to your hard drive. On some versions of Windows (especially Windows 7) you may need to extract it using a 3rd party utility such as 7zip. Or try the alternate download above.
    • NOTE: This step is MANDATORY. The installer will fail if you try to run it inside the .zip.
  4. Run FFEraInstaller-Jan2023.exe. Follow the installation instructions. Once it begins installing, don't cancel anything and allow it to do its work installing pre-requisites (like Visual Studio runtimes) and the game.
    • If you're running on Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8/8.1, you may need to download and install both .NET Framework 4 and .NET Framework 4.5.2 to get Ashita and/or Windower to run correctly.
    • If you're still having trouble (especially on Windows 7), you may need to manually download and install the DirectX Runtime.
  5. Once the installer is finished, reboot your computer if it asks you to do so.
  6. Launch FFEra on Ashita or Windower to connect and play!
    • You will need to create an account on our website at ffera.com (recommended) or in the prompt that appears in the launcher.
